"I love it, it's bigger than what we thought"
Devi (Oldham)

A large 38' by 12' (at its widest) storage conversion in Oldham, Manchester. The loft has access via newly constructed kitewind stairs with ballustade protection. At the foot of the staircase there is provision for a door if required. The loft is L-shaped with the sloping roof adding character to the space.

Along the roof we have installed the 2 Velux windows for natural daylight in the stairwell and towards the end of the loft.

There are 2 load baring "bull nose" walls. Thes have been retained because (crucially) they support the weight of the roof and purlins.

The loft is fully insulated throughout using solid insulating materials to reatian heat in cold weather and to block heat from the roof in summer.

Changes to building regulations relating to loft height would have made this loft suitable for regulations approval and for use as a habitable area.

The entire loft was given a plaster coating and finished made ready for decoration.
